End of Season. . .

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  We lived in the little moments, unfortunately separated.  The hubbs and Sprat spend All day at Carolina Rebellion and Big T and I spent our Saturday at Lax Fest.  They played four games and won three out of the four.  That is a lot of Lacrosse for one little boy.  We had fun though and he finished his season with three big wins.  We also got to see a few girls college lacrosse championship games too.  Duke, Carolina, Virginia Tech and South Florida were there playing and those that think girls lacrosse is not as physical as the boys have not watched them play.
Sprat and the hubbs were at the concert all day and got to see several bands that they both like.  Spent Sunday at Mom and Dad's celebrating my Mom and my sister and what great mothers they both are.  Enjoyed some wonderful food and spending time with the family.  Big T did not feel real well so we did not get to go see he and Sprats name sake.  My sister named her newest baby goats after my boys.  Big T the goat is quite rambunctious and usually finds trouble.  Sprat the goat is not as much of a trouble seeker.  They are both very cute goats.
Big T is in black in the middle.  Last set of games for this season, they finished with only two losses.

Another Teenager in the Clan. . .

We celebrated awesome thirteen this weekend, Big T is now a teenager.   We partied all weekend, this little boy has had more cake in the past seventy-two hours than should be allowed.   He has been quite popular on the telephone too.
Kids really should talk on the phone with adults more to learn proper phone etiquette.   Thank goodness my folks live away so that my kids have learned good phone etiquette.  If kids only talk to each other on the phone they do not learn this as quickly and if all they do is text they will never learn.  Big T had a bad habit of just hanging up on my mom when he felt he was finished with the conversation.   He did not say goodbye or anything.  He now understands that he needs to end the conversation with a goodbye before hanging up.   That was a tricky thing to try and teach.
Some days I feel all alone trying to teach my kids good manners.  I feel like everyone around me is trying to sabotage me and them at every turn.  I keep trying though, slow and steady.
There are many days that I feel all alone tackling this job of motherhood.   You love your kids and you want to do what is best for them and you have everyone around you telling you that you are doing it wrong.  Why is it we are so judgmental of mothers and why do some feel the need to criticize mothers at every turn.  There is so much pressure out there these days on moms to do and be everything to everyone.
Parenting is a tough job and it is a thankless job too.  This is for all the moms out there doing their best.  Take a deep breath and know you are not alone.  Give yourself a pat on the back because you are doing a difficult job in a difficult time.

Mother's Day Celebrations

Spent the weekend with my favorite fellas, watching my boys play ball.  I guess I am still a field mom.  Watched the oldest make a double play by himself.    Watched him make another double play and an amazing last out of an inning.  They lost but, a great game and they had fun.   Big T had an exciting game too, he stole second and tried to break an ankle in the process.  He stuck it out and played hard the rest of the game, the other team was more worried about him than we were.
Enjoyed a beautiful Church service with my oldest singing with the choir.  Our services are usually quite touching, especially at holidays.  I should preface this part with the fact that Big T and I got into a tiff over him wearing dress pants to Church.  He wanted to wear jeans which I normally do not mind, but for Mother's Day I thought he should wear dress pants.  He looked quite handsome in his dress pants and shirt.   While we were sitting listening to the children's message before the sermon,  Big T and I both a little teary, he grabbed my hand and leaned in and said; "I love you mommy, even though you made me wear these pants."  I do love my kids they always know how to make me laugh.

Teenagers. . .

We celebrated Big T's birthday yesterday at the Super Bowl party.  In another year I will be the mother of two teenage boys, oh my goodness.  Time does march on, whether we want it to or not.   I remember being a new mother, a mother of a preschooler, and a mother of elementary boys.  Time is going by at warp speed, I blinked and now my dear precious babies are growing up.   You want them to grow up but, then again, you want them to be your babies again.   I remember sitting with them laying on my chest sound asleep.   They were so tiny and fragile and they smelled so good.
The top picture is Big T only a week old and the bottom picture is Sprat at about six months old.
Now they are stinky, grouchy, gruff almost men.   No matter what stage of motherhood you are in, love your babies, they are your babies no matter what their age.  Love them and remind them often of where they came from, that they are a part of you.
